General Peter Pace, USMC (Ret.)

 

Peter Pace has continued to serve his country as an advisor in both the public and private sector since his retirement from the US Marine Corps in October, 2007.  General Pace’s 40- year distinguished military career culminated with the position of Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, the first Marine to be appointed to this highest-ranking military office.  During his tenure as chairman, General Pace was responsible for providing military advice on U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.  In June 2008, General Pace was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award.

General Pace was Vice Chairman of the JCS from October 2001 to August 2005 and just prior to this position he was Commander in Chief, United States Southern Command.  General Pace has held command at virtually every level, and served overseas billets in Nam Phong, Thailand; Seoul, Korea; and Yokota, Japan. His first assignment upon completion of The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia was with the 1st Marine Division in the Republic of Vietnam.

General Pace is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University.  He received his commission in the Marine Corps in June 1967.
