The Honorable Margaret Vanderhye


Margi Vanderhye served as the state delegate for the 34th District in the Virginia House of Delegates until 2010.  She currently serves on the Governor’s Secure Commonwealth Panel dealing with Virginia’s homeland security issues. Previously, she was appointed to the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, working with local communities on regional transportation policies to reduce congestion and improve air quality.

Additionally, Ms. Vanderhye was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the National Capital Planning Commission and was the NCPC representative to the Transportation Planning Board for the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments. At NCPC, she was also chairman of the Task Force for Memorials, which developed the award-winning Master Plan for Museums and Memorials for the National Capital Area.

She has worked at the White House as a staff member on the National Security Council, and as a research consultant at the Brookings Institution.
